Why barcode scanning matters in fulfilment

Manual item entry during picking and packing is slow and error-prone. When someone is packing 80 orders on a busy day, typing in product codes or reading a packing slip line-by-line to pick each item introduces real risk of the wrong variant, the wrong quantity, or a missed item. A barcode scan takes one second and eliminates that risk entirely.

How Nexlymate's scanning works

Nexlymate supports standard 1D and 2D barcodes. When you scan an item's barcode in the picking or packing interface, Nexlymate looks up the product, identifies the exact variant (size, colour, SKU), and auto-fills the item into the packing record. If the scanned item does not match what the order requires, Nexlymate flags it immediately so the packing team can correct the error before the box is sealed.

Setting up barcodes

You can use manufacturer barcodes printed on items you sell, or generate and print your own barcodes through Nexlymate using your product SKUs. Items without existing barcodes can have a SKU barcode printed as a label and applied. Once a product has a barcode registered in Nexlymate, it can be scanned throughout the system.

SKU generation and barcode alignment

Nexlymate's SKU generator creates consistent, rule-based product codes for your catalog. These same SKUs can be encoded into barcodes using standard formats (Code 128, QR, etc.) and printed via any barcode label printer. This means your warehouse barcoding system is built on the same product codes as your order management system — consistent throughout.
